WordPress.com is free to build websites but, there are a lot of limitations to using it, which makes a clear difference between ‘Wordpress.com’ and ‘WordPress.org’.

  • in other words, cannot sell ads on your website. If you want to sell then you need to apply for their ad program WordAds.
  • You cannot install plugins on your choice.
  • So it doesn’t allow us to install custom themes.
  • Free-Plan only allows users to install limited free themes.
  • You cannot use any analytic tool (Google Analytics) to monitor the statistics of your website.
  • If you violate their policy, then they can block your website at any time.
  • In other words, you are bound to follow their rules and policies.
  • It doesn’t allow you to build membership sites and don’t give any eCommerce features like integrated payment gateways. Therefore, you need to choose an eCommerce plan.

After that, You cannot monetize your blog/website by WordPress.com but, if you are having much traffic then you need to join their own ads program WordAds. However, there are very rare chances to earn by ‘WordPress.com’. So I will recommend you guys to use WordPress.org (Self-hosted).
