Write My First Blog

Writing blog posts is not rocket science, but it is not something you should start without doing your homework. If you are thinking of writing your first blog, this piece of reading will set you on the right path!

So you have finally made it possible to get your own blog, a platform that you can use to share your ideas and thoughts with the audience, now what is the trouble? Yes, of course, you are now being bombarded with the realization that developing a blog in terms of setting up a domain and hosting plan was only preliminary, the real test starts now as you have to write your first blog post.

Writing the first blogpost

Usually, bloggers take on a lot of pressure when it comes to writing their first blog post because they are still processing the whole thing and don’t know what their first post should be about. Some make it around themselves, making an introduction to the audience about the editor while some base it off on the strict itinerary they have kept around their content. No matter what it is there are a few things that you need to take into account to make your first blog post shine.

Take your audience into account

Remember the first blog post needs to be about your audience and how you would be communicating with them through your blog as a platform. Instead of making this post a little random, why not try to connect with your audience? You can tell them what your blog is about and what they can expect from you such as would you be educating them through your blog or informing about things, humoring them, or entertaining them. This way they will know what to expect and it will provide a solid start to your blogging endeavor.

Perform keyword research

Do you want to take Google by storm from the get-go in terms of ranking higher and gaining visibility in the search results? If so then make sure that you work on your first blog post as eccentrically as you would on the consecutive ones. Do proper keyword research based on the content that you are writing and who your audience is and make a solid first impression on Google. Take into account the placement of these keywords in your blog and place them organically too.

Establish your editorial plan

Even if you get by with the first blog post that you will create for your blog you would still require more topics to go by later and develop blogs out of them. Don’t think that this is something that is going to happen on its own; you need to spend some time and divert some focus into it to make it happen.

Try to find a few good topics that you will be working on in the first few weeks of your blog and try to elaborate on these in the form of an elongated text or an action plan of some sort. Don’t think of it as something that is rigid and can’t be changed as if you feel the need to exclude a topic or update it to a better one then by all means go for it.

Choose your tone and voice carefully

Remember that you are not a robot void of feelings and a personality and running a successful blog means that both of these things should shine and become clearer with your writing. Try to find a compelling voice and keep your tone articulated to the theme of the blog.

If it is a business blog that you are writing then remember to use formal language but at the same time if it is something fun and sassy then switch to the informal and a bit edgy voice that feels just friendly but not so over the top or too much. When you have developed a practical tone and voice for your blog, stick with it for the other blog posts that you will be adding.  You can check this post on how to create a blog.
